Event Details

The RSA in association with Banyak Films presents a documentary-film about mass collaboration, the internet and its power to transform society.

Join us for this special screening and discussion.

Chair: JP Rangaswami, Managing Director, BT Design

Directed by Ivo Gormley, Us Now follows the story of online networks whose radical self-organising structures challenge existing notions of hierarchy. Ebbsfleet United, a football club owned and run by its fans, all 35,000; and  Zopa, a bank in which everyone is the manager.

Us Now
takes a look at how the internet’s capacity to create new participatory structures could transform governance and deepen democracy. With contributions from Clay Shirky, Tom Steinberg, Matthew Taylor, MT Rainey and other fore-most thinkers in the field of participative governance, Us Now, also has contributions from politicians George Osborne MP and Ed Miliband MP on the possibilities for the internet to enhance democracy.

What can I expect when I attend your events?

Our events typically last between one hour and one hour fifteen minutes, the speaker or speakers will present for the first half of the event before we open the debate up to you in the audience. All of our events are audio and video recorded and are made available on our website to watch and listen to again.
